Microchipping is a painless procedure where a small permanent form of identification in the form of a microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) is inserted under the skin of the back of the cat’s neck. This chip contains a universal barcode can then be scanned by a special reader that veterinary clinics and shelters have in their possession. As long as you keep your contact information up to date, if your cat is lost and the chip is read, your cat will be returned home to you.
